Joining the mIRC chat...
For those of you fluent with mIRC, the chat room is on "irc.zirc.org" in "#galaxies". For those of you who don't understand what I just said, follow these simple instructions:
1) Download the latest version of mIRC from the official mIRC site!
2) Install it!
3) Run mIRC.exe.
4) You should be a screen that looks similar to this.
5) Click the second button from the left.
6) You should see a window like this.
7) Click the "Add" button.
8) Put "Star Wars Galaxies Chat" into the description field.
9) Put "irc.zirc.org" into the server field.
10) Click "OK"
11) Click the "Connection to IRC Server" button.
12) Your mIRC window will begin to fill up with lines that make no sense. Similar to this (the network will be different). You are in the process of connecting to the server.
13) Once you are connected to the server, type "/join #galaxies". You should now be in the chat room! Watch out for flying trout.
Joining the Official chat...
Joining the Official Chat is really quite simple. Click here. If you're not logged into the Station, it will ask for your username and password. If you are logged in, you will be taken to the chat room.
Chatting...
Once you are in the chatroom, you can use the following commands to increase your chatting enjoyment:
/nick [nickname] - Replace [nickname] with your new chat handle. Chat handles have a max of 30 chars. (Only works in the mIRC chat) /me [emote] - Replace [emote] with an action. Just like in the old MUDs! /join [roomname] - Replace [roomname] with the name of a chat room and you will join that room. (Only works in the mIRC chat) /quit [quit message] - Logs off the server and leaves that chat. Replace [quit message] with a witty message, or leave it blank. (Only works in the mIRC chat)
