Chat Log
The following is a log of the interview with Blade (of Blade's Battlestation) which occured during the first BMCC on Monday, December 17th, 2001.
<Maddix> BigSteve: Blade, where DOES your handle come from?
<Blade> My handle comes from my original one of Blade Running (One of my favs).. I shortened it due to lazyness and too much initializing. :)
<Maddix> Darth Felid: Where DO babies come from? I hear you like them...
<Blade> storks spawn them I believe
<Maddix> BigSteve: What's been your favourite debate from the Dev forum (in recent memory)
<Blade> You mean besides anyone BJ posts?
<Blade> ;)
<Blade> My fac of the past week was the one on exploits of the Outcast system--lots to discuss
<Maddix> CraigOxbrow: As a bigtime figure in "counting down to SWG" what are you actually planning on being when it starts?
<Blade> figure?
<Blade> I actually plan to sit back and see what everyone else will be--then do the exact opposite
<Blade> Which means I will be a fat rodian female in the service of the empire
<Maddix> Deep_Phantom: Do you agree the DeepPhantom is the most useful member of the SWG Community?
<Blade> Yes--Deep Phantom is the most useless member of the community
<Maddix> LordSecmoth: If we can't know your back account numbers, can we know your SSN?
<Blade> 999-99-9991
<Maddix> Chr0no: Isn't Holocron the weirdest Dev? Isn't he? Yeah, he is...
<Blade> As the only one willing to contunually subject himself to unbridles criticism..yes, he is the weirdest.
<Maddix> Juztyn: Corellian Whiskey, or Alderaanian wine?
<Blade> Whiskey, please.
<Maddix> JediMaster53: What species will you be?
<Blade> I will try out several. Probably Rodian since so few seem to care for it.
<Maddix> Killjoy-X: What are your 5 favorite games of all time?
<Blade> computer I assume...
<Blade> Jedi Knight, Ultima Online, Gabriel Knight, System Shock 2, Baldur's Gate. ;)
<Maddix> Jobu: Seen as though you have strong opinions on MMORPG's, do you have any plans on becoming a Games developer yourself?
<Blade> No--I enjoy criticizing developers too much. ;) Is it something I would consider? If I ever win the lottery--I'm there.
<Maddix> BountyTaker: Is there anything the dev's cut that you REALLY wishes was in the initial release?
<Blade> SPIES!
<Blade> :)
<Blade> aye--disguises and spies supported in the game by mechanics
<Blade> it's such an interesting part of Star Wars to explore
<Maddix> Bajeezus: If NWN beats SWG to the shelves(it will), can we use YOUR site to co-ordinate NWN play sessions for us? (Say ues)
<Blade> My site is hosted by GameSpy--I will check to see if THEY will help support is--but my site is singular in content: SWG only
<Blade> and I can't wait for NWN either
<Blade> I'm a hydraulics engineer--that's a fancy way of saying I play with water for a living.
<Maddix> Darth_Felix: Have you ever met one of the Dev's/Mod's personally?
<Blade> Not in person--I've conversed with them directly a number of times
<Blade> and I've been working on a site visit...
<Maddix> Bountytaker: Have you learned anything interesting about PA's whilst you have been running the Battestation
<Blade> I've learned that people's creativity knows no bounds--I've learned the people enjoy the sense of owenership and accimplishment that PA's give them to direct their energies--I've also learned how to delete them very fast :)
<Maddix> Killjoy-X: Outside of the SW universe, what would be your "dream" setting for a MMORPG?
<Blade> hmmm
<Blade> you know--when I was playing UO, I used to tell people that my dream MMORPG would be Star Wars :)
<Blade> let's see
<Blade> gonna have to go with Middle Earth
<Blade> who doesn't wanna be a hobbit?
<Maddix> Endarz: Do you like SW?
<Blade> No--I've been trying to stamp SW out for years now--but it just won't die. Perhaps congress...
<Blade> Condit needs a new distration
<Maddix> Jar JarbinksGuy: "Humble Gungan" of Evil Sith Lord?
<Blade> Evil Sith Lord of course, being domineering just comes natural
<Maddix> BigSteve: Which is your favorite SW film?
<Blade> Empire Strikes Back, hands down.
<Maddix> KetMaliss: How much work do you do on your site daily? Do you get your courses from places OTHER than the official chat?
<Blade> I work on it an average about two hours a day--sometimes more and typically more on the weekends.
<Blade> I'm constantyly looking at sourses of material on TFN, from the RPG, Star Wars insider, and Star Wars Gamer
<Blade> My favoritse source to date is The Wildlife of Star Wars-- beautiful book -- you can see some pics scanned in the zoo section of my site
<Blade> www.rpgplanet.com/starwars
<Maddix> DarthWicket: Are you going to hide your name like the dev's will, in order to attain some privacy?
<Blade> you mean in the game?
<Blade> probably not..I don't think I'll be as much of a distraction as they will
<Blade> but I won't be "Blade" either
<Maddix> Quid: Will you get marries in SWG?
<Blade> Oh--I dunno--if the right girl (of guy) comes along, and the chars seem to have the chemistry, and it fits naturally with what that char is doing, I might be willing to attach the old ball and chain. ;)
