Understanding the Basics of Character Attributes and Loot

As you adventure through the galaxy, you will come across loot and other rewards that can help give you an edge when you are up against tough enemies. To make the best use of the loot, it's good to know the basics of how each character attribute affects your character.

Here, we have a have a look at character attribute, what they mean and how to make the best of them.

Characteristics

In game, you can open your character sheet by pressing "C". When you do, you'll see the first page of your character sheet that has your character's attributes (The "Status" tab).

Character Attributes

Health

  • This bar is your Total Health Points. It represents how much damage you can take before your character is incapacitated.

When your character has zero health, you character will be incapacitated. When this happens, you will see a "Weakness Timer" appear on your HAM Display. If you are incapacitated twice within 1 minute, you will be cloned.
  • Health is the red bar on your HAM display (Health Action Mind).
  • The number displayed on your character sheet is: Current Health Points / Total Health Points.

Action

  • This bar is your Total Action Points . It represents how many special abilities you will be able to do. This bar recharges on its own, but if you do several high-action cost attacks, you can run out of Action Points and have to wait a short time before you can execute another attack.
  • Action is the green bar on your HAM display (Health Action Mind).
  • The number displayed on your character sheet is: Current Action Points / Total Action Points.

All of the following attributes are displayed as zero. As you equip weapons, armor, modified clothing and consume buffs, this number will change.

These attributes will show up on your character sheer as your total current bonuses.

Strength
: This attribute affects your offensive melee attacks .

Constitution : This attribute affects your health and action bars.

You can use items and buffs to a dd up to 8 points to your Health Bar and 2 points to your Action bar for every 1 point of Constitution.

Stamina : This attribute affects your action and health bars.

You can use items and buffs to a dd up to 8 points to your Action Bar and 2 points to your Health bar for every 1 point of Stamina.

Precision : This attribute affects your offensive ranged attacks . The higher this number is, the better a bonus you have to hitting a target with ranged attacks.

Agility: This attribute affects your defensive abilities . The higher this number is, the better a binue you will have at surviving enemy attacks.

Luck: Luck is a special attribute that can have a surprise affect on your game play. For instance, if you see the message <<Lucky!!>>, then you might have recieved an experience bonus or it could be a non-combat bonus too. For instance, it can increase your "sell rate" when selling items to a Junk Dealer. When this happens, you will get a bonus payout by getting a higher price for goods sold to Fences or Junk Dealers.

Green Attribute: If you notice that you have an attribute listed in green, that means that it is currently being increased by a buff.

Offense / Defense : On the right side of your HAM display, there is a listing for Offence and Defense. These will list the total amount of active bonuses your character has as a result from buffs. Offense and Defense are never increased with items. They are only increased with Buffs. Items indirectly give offensive or defensive boosts by boosting Strength, Precision or Agility. Buffs directly give offensive or defensive bonuses by increasing Offense or Defense.

Protections: This is a list of special attacks in the game that your character can find special protections for. As you equip items that may increase your special protections, the total amount will be listed here.

Using Loot Buffs

There are many items in the game that can be used to boost or "buff" the attributes of your character. Some can be found as loot, some can be earned as quest rewards and others are earned by playing your character and earning level rewards. Here are a few tips on understanding how to get the most out of your items.

Below is an "Improved Dexterity Stim". It is a commonly found loot reward that can be used to boost your agility.

You can find out the stats for this item by using the radial menu to examine it in your inventory. It will show you the level your character needs to be able to use the buff, the amount of time you have to wait before you can consume another of the same or similar buffs and the name of the effect.

You can activate the buff by double-clicking it from your inventory, using the radial menu or drop-and-dragging it to your Toolbar. Once it is on your toolbar, you can queue up the item and click the right mouse button to activate the buff.

When you activate the buff, you will see a buff icon on your HAM bar that looks like this:

The left icon is a "Weakness Timer" icon as described above. The buff icon on the right is the buff icon displayed by using the Improved Dexterity Stim.

The icon will be displayed for the duration of the buff. The icon will blink shortly before the buff ends and is removed from your character.

You can find even more details about the buff by moving your mouse cursor over the buff icon. The buff display looks like this:

Happy Hunting!
