SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Since many people come here wondering if their new desktop computer or new laptop will run SWG, I figured a small guide was in need.   Here are the official computer minimal and recommended requirements for SWG.

• Intel PIII 933 MHz or AMD Athlon 900 MH
• 512 MB RAM
• 32 MB 3D Graphics Card with Hardware Transform and Lighting (T & L) Capability
• 100% DirectX 9.0c Compatible Computer (*Note: DirectX may require the "latest" drivers for your particular hardware.)
• 1024 x 768 Capable Monitor
• PCI, USB, or Onboard Audio Device Sound Card
• 56.6k + Internet Connection
• Quad Speed CD-Rom Drive
• 3.5 GB of Free Hard Drive Space
• Additional 500MB Free Space Required After Game Installation for Windows Swap File and Save Games
• DirectX 9.0c
• Keyboard and Mouse
• Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided and a valid Star Wars Galaxies account

• 64MB 3D Graphics Card with Hardware Vertex and PixelShader (VS/PS) Capability
• 1024 x 768 Capable Monitor
• EAX 2.0 Compliant Audio Device Sound Card
• 56.6k + Internet Connection
• 16X Speed CD-ROM Drive
• 3.5 GB of Free Hard Drive Space
• 100% DirectX 9.0c Compatible Computer (*Note: DirectX may require the "latest" drivers for your particular hardware.)
• Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided and a valid Star Wars Galaxies account

System requirements subject to change as the game progresses, and you may need to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to play the game.

• I would like to point out the key elements that you should look for when buying a new computer, laptops especially.  When buying a new laptop, make sure the video card is not an onboard (Built on the motherboard, aka shared memory)  Make sure the card is a dedicated card for optimal performance.
• The game still may run on a shared graphics card, however it will not run very well. 
• RAM:  The game requires at least 512mb, however 1GB is recommended, I strongly recommended 1GB at least, the more the better
• For laptops, the dedicated graphic card must be at least 128mb for smooth gameplay, 64mb just doesnt cut it.

Please note that SWG is not supported on a laptop.  Run at your own risk!
